Happy Thrilling Tuesday lovies! Top Ten Tuesday was originally created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. Top Ten Tuesday consists of all the books that I want to read! Hopefully, you guys want to read some of these books too and can add some recs to my endless TBR!
When I first heard that audiobooks were becoming a thing I was extremely skeptical and felt that it was a form of cheating. Looking back on this I feel really bad for making those judgments about audiobooks and I am now head over heels in love with audiobooks! For those of you that feel that audiobooks are cheating please understand that it isn’t! Audiobooks and physical/ebooks are exactly the same story! Your not any less of a reader if you listen to audiobooks! The only difference between reading a physical book and listening to a book is the process of decoding. That’s it! Not much of a difference! Read my rant about audiobooks here.
I am so grateful that I accepted the world of audiobooks because it has helped my TBR tremendously! I am a teacher and therefore my life is pretty hectic. Audiobooks are amazing because you can listen to them while your driving, eating (Though I love reading a physical book while I read, I have been guilty of getting some wine stains in my book! Highly recommend listening instead! EEEK!), cooking, and cleaning the dishes!
I appreciate books in any form and of course, if I had to pick my favorite medium it would be the physical version though there are many books out there where the audio version works more than the physical version. Almost all of my self-help books are audio and I feel that the message sinks in more when it is the on audio format!
Here are my top ten favorite audiobooks of all time!
I am legit obsessed with the audiobook and listen to it every year! I am a huge fan of Drew Barrymore and the way she narrates this is simply amazing! She is so quirky, cute, and a generally happy person! This is such a positive book and I love it to death! Also, I literally listen to this book sometimes at night to go to sleep! I know…obsessed!
I listened to this book a month ago and listened to it again last week! I know I am a broken record but this book is so uplifting and really makes you reevaluate your life for the better!
Another self-help book people! I listened to this book twice and I just love the practical advice! It’s about getting things done no matter what! All you do is count down to five and attack that to-do list! The huge Ravenclaw in me is always someone that wants to attack the to-do list and this book has so many essential tips on how to get your life together!
This is the one YA book that should be listened to because the author herself actually reads her own book! I am not a huge poetry fan but this book is so original because the book is written in poems from beginning to end! The best thing about this book is that the form of poetry written is slam poetry and the way that the author reads her writing is so powerful and moving! Get this book on audio now!
Oh man, this was the one book I really wanted to read because the movie was coming out so I decided to do a mix of audiobooking and reading instead! I loved both mediums of this book! The narrator did such an awesome job of narrating the book and he really got the feel of all the characters personalities!
Wow! This book was insane! I was completely sucked into the story and the narration was also on point! The story is so intriguing and I loved all the characters that were introduced in this book! I did a mix of reading the book and audiobooking the book as well!
I had this book sitting on my bookshelf and collecting dust for over a year! I know #BookNerdProblems!
So a book club member told me that she tried to read Cinder and she wasn’t connecting to the book. She said the book is best consumed by audio and I have to say she is right! This book captivated me from beginning to end and I have to consume the rest of The Lunar Chronicles!
Girlboss is BOSS! This book is so damn inspiring and the story of Sophia Amoruso’s rise to fame is so amazing! I listen to this book on a yearly basis too and I never get sick of listening to her empowering entrepreneurial take-no-crap-advice!
Sooo…I am a registered Gilly!
I love all things Gilmore Girls and I watch the show all the time! Of course, I had to get the audiobook for Lauren Graham (Who is one of my favorite people!) and learn about all the juicy details of her time at Gilmore Girls! Lauren Graham narrates her own book herself and she is her usual, funny, quick-witted, Lorelai-self, and it’s just perfection! Grap a cup of coffee at Luke’s and audiobook this memoir now!
AS IF I would leave out this book that brightened up my pre-teen soul!!! This movie was a huuuge influence for me growing up and it’s actually my favorite movie of all time! (Don’t judge me, people!)
I am such a huge fan of this movie that I actually went to a movie showing last year! I never actually saw the movie in theatres and it was the best experience ever! Read my post about it here.
The only complaint I have about this book is that I wish it was written by the Amy Heckerling (genius!) but Jen Chaney does an amazing and thorough research with this book! She has intimate interviews with the cast and the story behind the birth of this great masterpiece! This movie is a lot deeper than you think guys trust me! Listen to this audiobook! This Jane Austen retelling will always be my go to when the world is just a bit scary.
