Where have I been…
I would say that it has been a hot minute since I have updated! Like over a month! Ooopsy-doopsy!
End of School Year
I guess I could say that I have been a bit overwhelmed with life as of late and I had to take a bit of a break from blogging. I was facing the end of the school year, had to get my grades ready, and pack up my first-grade classroom! If any of you are teachers out there…you know how crazy the month of May can be!
On top of the end of the school year craziness, I started to apply for an online teaching company called VIP Kid! The process to get hired was absolutely insane but I am so excited to work for this company because I get to work from home and teach kids from Beijing English while making $9 for every 25-minute lesson!
Books I Have Read…
My reading was actually much better than my blogging because I relied on many audible books through the month of May!
May is always a hard month for teachers because we are literally reaching the end of the road so I listened to two self-help books to motivate me throughout the end of the year! I reread The Five-Second Rule which I love for its practicality and no bullshit advice and Girl Wash Your Face was a delight to read! Not only was it an amazing read it was an absolute REVELATION!!! Rachel Hollis, the author of Girl Wash Your Face spoke to my soul and woke me up! I loved how real she was, how frank she was about her daily struggles, and how she has overcome her struggles! The author describes tools of how to stand up and take charge of our own lives as women! She believes that our goals are worth it and that we need to stop making excuses and go wash our face! Freaking loved it and I will probably listen to it once a month from now to eternity!
I read a Dawson’s Creek book Long Hot Summer and it was pure guilty pleasure…
I decided to read this book because I was listening to my favorite Dawson’s Creek podcast Dawson’s Speak and they were actually having a Dawson’s Creek Book Club for The Long Hot Summer and I decided to join in the fun!
Reading this book was hilariously corny and full of nostalgia! After all, you know a book is set in the 90’s when they refer to a guy as Mr. Hawaiian shorts and Tamagotchis!
The Thorn Necklace is a memoir mixed in with writing tips/exercises and this book was like being led through a spiritual journey. Read my blog post about this book here.
I am looking forward to…
SUMMER! My summer is going to be filled with writing, reading, working part-time, and being able to just breathe for a bit! And of course being able to blog here and keep you guys updated on a more daily basis!!!
