I am so excited to announce that I am going to be meeting one of my favorite childhood authors, R.L. FREAKING Stine!!! This man has had a tremendous impact on me and he is one of the many authors that fostered my love of reading! I am bringing a couple of books with me and they are one of my favorite oldies but goodies!
A Night in Terror Tower was one of my favorite Goosebumps reads of all time and I was never the same after visiting museums with wax figures in it! And of course, I could never forget the classic A Night in Terror Tower Goosebumps episode! The episode was perfect in every way because it was genuinely spooky at the time! I remember recording it at the time on VHS and probably watching a zillion times. Also because of the book, I began to develop a weird obsession for the Renaissance period! When I went on a class field trip to the Renaissance Fair I wanted so desperately for something spooky to happen! I wanted to feel like I was a character of a Goosebumps story! I would make up stories to my parents that I felt that maybe there was a ghost from the Renaissance watching me! Yeahhh…let’s just say at 12-years-old I had a bit of an active imagination back then!
When I turned 13, the Fear Street book series was the perfect edgy transition for me at the age and I just gobbled up those killer cheerleaders stories! The cheerleader stories are a trilogy and I just have the third one but hopefully, I could find The First Evil and The Second Evil!
@charliechuchi loves smelling books like his mommy!
Although the Monster Edition #1 is a compilation of stories and it is extra special to me for three reasons!
1) It has one of my favorite Goosebumps stories Welcome to Dead House!
2) The book screams when you open it!! Like literally screams!
3) Someone stole it from me in 6th grade and I never got it back till now! #thebookthatgotaway
The #bookthatgotaway story started when I was in P.E. class and I stupidly laid the Monsters Edition #1 book on top of my bookbag! Before that, I was showing off the book to everyone in my class and raving about how the book screams and how cool it was! Yeah…I was just way too excited about that feature! So, of course, laying the book on top of my book bag wasn’t the smartest idea! Thirty minutes later, all sweaty and excited to continue reading the Monsters Edition #1 story the book was…GONE!
I was DEVASTATED, to say the least, and I remember going to every single classroom in my grade level asking if they know of a Goosebumps book that screams when you open it! The worst part of it was that when I went back to the store with my mom that all the copies were gone and I just never saw the book again!
Flash forward, 23 years later and my husband found the book for me on Amazon and guess what…the book still screams! So all is right with the world again!
Finally, my childhood dreams are coming true and I am going to meet R.L. Stine and other mystery authors for the event Palm Beach Peril located in the Palm Beach Library at 2 pm tomorrow! There is still time to register if any of you are interested!
I am so looking forward to having him sign the Monsters Edition #1 book and hopefully, I will have enough time to tell home about my traumatic #thebookthatgotaway story!
